Manchester United will be without Patrick Dorgu for their FA Cup fifth-round match against Fulham today, as the wing-back begins his three-match suspension.
The January recruit received a straight red card during Wednesday’s clash with Ipswich Town, ruling him out of today’s game and the upcoming Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Ipswich later this month.
Noussair Mazraoui was substituted in to restore balance to Ruben Amorim’s side that night, with the Moroccan international expected to retain the wing-back role alongside Diogo Dalot on the opposite flank.
Alejandro Garnacho was taken off following Dorgu’s dismissal, heading straight to the tunnel just before half-time. Amorim later mentioned Garnacho would treat his teammates to dinner as an apology, indicating the issue had been settled internally.
The manager also revealed the Argentine picked up a minor knock during the game but was hopeful he would recover in time to feature today after further assessments on Saturday.
United relied on an own goal and contributions from their centre-backs to overcome Ipswich, with Rasmus Hojlund’s goal drought extending to 16 matches, having netted only twice in the Premier League this season. Joshua Zirkzee has managed just one goal since early December, coming off the bench to score in the previous round against Leicester City.
With goals difficult to find, 17-year-old Chido Obi could retain his place in the matchday squad. The youngster made his debut against Tottenham and featured for 20 minutes against Everton but missed out on the Under-18s’ FA Youth Cup victory over Arsenal on Friday night.
Amorim’s squad remains unchanged, with injuries still affecting the team. Kobbie Mainoo is expected to return only after the March international break, while Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez are ruled out for the season.
