Karim Adeyemi’s Future Takes a Twist: Chelsea Offer, Agent Change, and Dortmund’s Revival
The January transfer window saw Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi linked with high-profile moves to Chelsea and Napoli. However, despite the rumors, no deal materialized. Now, fresh revelations shed light on the behind-the-scenes developments that could have changed the trajectory of his career.
According to Bild, German journalist Christian Falk has disclosed that Adeyemi’s former agent, Ali Barat, actively sought to engineer a transfer for the talented forward. Barat reportedly pitched Adeyemi to both Chelsea and Napoli, aiming to secure him an exit from Dortmund. However, the 23-year-old German international wasn’t fully convinced about leaving in the winter.
“He didn’t really want to leave either. His former agent, Ali Barat, pushed for an opportunity and offered him to Napoli and Chelsea,” Falk revealed.
As a result of these conflicting interests, Adeyemi made a significant career move—he cut ties with Barat and joined the agency Roof. This decision signals his intent to reassess his future at Dortmund rather than rushing into a transfer.
Dortmund themselves were open to a sale but didn’t consider it a necessity. Now, with the club under the new leadership of Niko Kovač—who replaced Nuri Şahin—the atmosphere has shifted. Since Kovač’s appointment, Adeyemi has enjoyed regular playing time and appears to be regaining top form.
Falk further explained:
“Adeyemi feels very, very comfortable under Niko Kovač. He’s slowly getting back into shape and performing well.”
With his contract running until 2027, the dynamic winger is reportedly considering a long-term stay at Dortmund. However, one crucial factor could impact this decision—BVB’s league position. Currently sitting 10th in the Bundesliga, missing out on Champions League qualification could force the club into a major summer sale.
Chelsea, still monitoring the situation, remains a possible destination should Dortmund decide to cash in. With a price tag set at €50 million plus bonuses, Adeyemi’s future remains one of the most intriguing transfer sagas to watch in the coming months.
Will Dortmund’s resurgence under Kovač be enough to convince Adeyemi to stay? Or will Chelsea swoop in with an irresistible offer? The next few months could be decisive.
