Real Madrid’s Frustration with La Liga Referees Reaches New Heights

 

In recent weeks, Real Madrid’s frustration with La Liga referees has escalated, with players and club officials voicing concerns over decisions they believe have gone against them. Their anger flared once again during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Osasuna, particularly over Jude Bellingham’s controversial red card in the first half.

 

Bellingham was sent off for allegedly swearing at referee José Luis Munuera Montero, though he has denied the claim, attributing it to a mistranslation. Carlo Ancelotti has also defended his player, and Real Madrid is expected to appeal the decision. Additionally, the penalty awarded to Osasuna after Eduardo Camavinga’s challenge on Ante Budimir further fueled Madrid’s frustration.

 

The club has already expressed its dissatisfaction following questionable officiating in previous matches, including controversial non-red cards and penalty decisions against Espanyol and Atlético Madrid. They recently sent a strongly-worded letter to the Spanish Football Federation criticizing the referees, and their anger has only intensified after the Osasuna match.

 

Real Madrid Players Feel Targeted

 

According to Diario AS, several Real Madrid players privately expressed their outrage, stating that referees are “screwing us.” There is also growing discontent with La Liga as a whole, with both players and the club unhappy with the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA).

 

Some players have gone as far as calling the recent decisions “textbook prevarication” against Real Madrid. Meanwhile, despite Atlético Madrid failing to overtake them at the top of the table, the team does not see that as any form of consolation.

 

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will take further action beyond their formal complaint to the Federation as their frustration with officiating continues to mount.
