Speaking on The Overlap, Wright expressed admiration for Slot’s no-nonsense approach after the defeat.
“I loved listening to Arne Slot after the Plymouth game because he was disgusted,” Wright said. “He’d have looked at those players thinking, ‘This is a team fighting for the title, you’ve been on the fringes, and when given your chance, you go and lose to Plymouth—with all due respect?’”
The Dutch manager didn’t hold back in his criticism, making it clear that he expected far better from his squad, especially with a Premier League title race at stake.

As a former Arsenal star, Wright also weighed in on the title race, acknowledging that Liverpool were in control heading into their recent 2-2 draw with Everton.
“It’s in Liverpool’s hands,” Wright noted. “Liverpool have to lose games, and Arsenal have to win. And we’re having to do it without one of our key goal scorers [Kai Havertz]. So, you’re just holding onto anything you can.”
Though he stopped short of declaring the title race over, Wright admitted it was close to being wrapped up. However, Liverpool’s failure to beat Everton has given Arsenal a glimmer of hope as they push for their first league title in years.
