Chelsea have reportedly recalled one of their strikers from a season-long loan as they continue their search for a new centre-forward this month.

With the transfer window set to close on Monday, Chelsea have been linked with several attacking options, including Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel. However, with no deal secured yet, the club may be considering an internal solution.

While it remains uncertain whether Chelsea intend to use David Datro Fofana as their striker for the remainder of the season, the Ivorian forward has officially returned from his loan spell, which was originally set to last until the end of the campaign.

Fofana’s return follows a mixed loan spell—after a solid stint at Burnley, he made a somewhat unexpected move to Turkish side Göztepe. However, a recent injury and subsequent surgery have seen him recalled by Chelsea.

According to Simon Johnson of The Athletic, Chelsea are assessing the extent of Fofana’s injury and deciding on the next steps. His return also frees up an international loan spot, potentially allowing the club to bring in another player before the window closes.
