Manchester United icon Gary Neville has asserted that a potential player exchange involving Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku would primarily benefit Chelsea.

Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain as the transfer deadline on February 3 approaches, with Chelsea reportedly showing strong interest in securing his services. Speculation suggests that the Blues may soon submit a formal bid for the young winger.

On Saturday, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that both United and Chelsea were considering a swap deal, which would see Nkunku move to Manchester while Garnacho heads to Stamford Bridge. Although no final decision has been made, discussions are said to be ongoing.

A report from The Peoples Person also indicated that United have expressed interest in being updated on any developments regarding Nkunku’s future.

Speaking on NBC Sport, Neville shared his perspective on the rumored deal, firmly opposing it from United’s standpoint.

The former Red Devils defender, who won eight Premier League titles, stated, “I don’t see the benefit for United. Nkunku has barely played due to injuries since arriving at Chelsea and has struggled to find his rhythm.”

While acknowledging Garnacho’s potential rather than labeling him as a world-class player, Neville emphasized that United should only consider selling him if a substantial offer comes in.

He continued, “Swapping him for Nkunku? If I were Manchester United, I wouldn’t go through with that deal.”

However, Neville admitted, “I can understand why Chelsea would be interested.”

Meanwhile, Napoli have also been linked with a move for Garnacho. Their sporting director recently made it clear that they will not overpay, as United reportedly value the winger at £60 million.
