“I don’t know why Amorim is still allowing this horror-show start for Man United. He completely failed to win any of his six aerial duels, completed just six passes, registered no shots or dribbles” —This is according to Rio Ferdinand as he urges Amorim to consider dropping this player after a dreadful performance against Fulham.

Manchester United secured a narrow victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage, thanks to a second-half goal from Lisandro Martinez.

Manchester United secured a narrow victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage, thanks to a second-half goal from Lisandro Martinez.

Martinez’s strike took a heavy deflection off Sasa Lukic, looping over goalkeeper Bernd Leno and into the net. Both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances, but United ultimately walked away with all three points.

Notably, Martinez’s goal was United’s first shot on target of the match.

This result moves the Red Devils up to 12th in the Premier League standings, just two points behind Brentford in 11th and four behind Fulham, who sit in 10th.

Hojlund’s Struggles Continue

Despite the win, several United players failed to impress—one of whom was Rasmus Hojlund.

Ruben Amorim opted to start Hojlund over Joshua Zirkzee, but the decision did not pay off. The Danish forward struggled to make an impact, offering little threat to Fulham’s defenders. He lost the majority of his duels and failed to provide the attacking presence United needed.

Hojlund lasted just 58 minutes before being substituted for Zirkzee.

His performance was underwhelming, as he failed to register a single shot. He attempted one dribble, which was unsuccessful, and had just 21 touches throughout his time on the pitch.

The 21-year-old completed only six of his eight attempted passes and lost three out of five ground duels. His aerial performance was equally poor, losing all six battles in the air. Additionally, he surrendered possession 12 times.

Hojlund’s struggles this season have been well-documented, and his display against Fulham only adds to concerns about his form. United will look to improve when they face FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday.
