Chelsea are actively engaged in behind-the-scenes discussions regarding a potential move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

The Blues are in the market for a new left winger this month, with Bynoe-Gittens emerging as a top target alongside Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho. However, it remains uncertain whether a deal will be pursued in January or postponed until the summer transfer window.

Bynoe-Gittens previously spent part of his youth career in West London before stints at Reading and Manchester City, eventually joining Dortmund in 2020. Now, five years later, he carries a valuation of €100 million (£84.5 million).

Former Germany striker Karl-Heinz Riedle has praised the young winger’s potential, likening him to Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland. As reported by The Sun, Riedle stated: “He can become the next Sancho, Haaland, or Bellingham. He is very quick, excels in one-on-one situations, and possesses a strong finishing ability. He has the full package and is constantly working to improve himself.”

Bynoe-Gittens, now 20, has cemented himself as a regular starter for Dortmund after a period of inconsistency last season. Under Nuri Şahin’s guidance, he is thriving and is widely expected to secure a high-profile transfer in the near future.

A move to Chelsea in January would provide Enzo Maresca with a dynamic attacking option, though the club may opt to wait until the summer before making a formal approach. The winger’s impressive return of 11 goals and five assists in 26 appearances this season has only heightened Premier League interest in securing his signature.
