Coming live from Old Trafford, Despite the well deserved win against Arsenal, Manchester United are gearing to sell one of their young stars as they have reportedly set their asking price for Alejandro Garnacho, as a top Premier League manager eyes a potential high-profile transfer.

Napoli are reportedly targeting Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Former Tottenham and Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, now at the helm of Napoli, is said to be keen on bringing Garnacho in to fill the void left by Kvaratskhelia, who is rumored to have secured a lucrative deal with Paris Saint-Germain. Conte appears resigned to losing the Georgian star, having publicly acknowledged his desire to move on.

According to Sport Italia, Manchester United have placed a £42 million valuation on Garnacho, who has seen limited game time under new manager Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old has not started a match since United’s 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest on December 7 and, like Marcus Rashford, has struggled to adapt to Amorim’s tactical system.

Conte, along with Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna, reportedly shares a clear vision for Garnacho’s role at the club, and efforts are underway to secure what would be a headline-grabbing transfer.

The Argentine winger has made 115 appearances for Manchester United since debuting as a teenager, scoring 23 goals. After reaching double figures in goals across all competitions last season, Garnacho seemed poised to become a breakout star. However, his development has stalled this season, with the team undergoing significant changes both under Erik ten Hag and now Amorim.

A recent 2-2 draw at Liverpool highlighted a tactical shift under Amorim, with Bruno Fernandes deployed as a left-sided forward and Amad Diallo occupying the right wing. Garnacho, meanwhile, was limited to a 20-minute substitute appearance.

Financial constraints mean Manchester United are unlikely to make significant signings in the January transfer window unless they offload players. Reports suggest that most players, including Garnacho and fellow academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo, could be sold at the right price.

Despite this, Amorim remains committed to retaining key young talents. Speaking about the situation, he said:
“I really love my players. I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones. It’s a special moment in this club—a difficult moment—but I’m really happy with Kobbie and Garna. They are improving, and our idea is always to keep the best players who represent the future of this club.”
