Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has made a shocking double revelation regarding the Blues’ future plans this afternoon ahead of their upcoming match against Brighton. 😱

Enzo Maresca has revealed that Chelsea may offload two players during the January transfer window.

Chelsea currently boast one of the largest squads in the Premier League following years of significant investment. That approach has begun to yield results, with Maresca guiding the team to second place in the league standings, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.

However, the downside of such a large squad is that several players have had very limited opportunities this season.

Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka are two players who have struggled for game time.

Chilwell has not made a single appearance in the Premier League or UEFA Conference League this season, with his only minutes coming in the EFL Cup match against Barrow in September.

Similarly, Chukwuemeka has featured sparingly, with just one start in the Conference League and a few substitute appearances, including one in the same Barrow match. Neither player has been included in a Premier League matchday squad this season.

Maresca expressed understanding for the players’ frustrations and acknowledged that Chelsea might explore solutions for their situations in January.

“There are players who haven’t had much game time in any competition, like Chilwell and Carney,” Maresca said in a press conference (via BBC Sport). “They’re probably the first to want to leave because they work hard every day and want to play. If they’re not playing, it’s natural for them to consider leaving.

“Each player’s situation is unique, so if someone comes to us and says they want to leave, we’ll try to find a solution.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a potential move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, signaling their ambitions to strengthen the squad further.
