Noussair Mazraoui finally got a chance to play in his natural right-back position and made a strong impression, revitalizing his promising partnership with Amad for Manchester United.

Throughout most of the 2024/25 season, Mazraoui had been deployed as a left-back instead of his preferred side. Both he and Diogo Dalot have frequently alternated flanks, though recently, Mazraoui has spent more time on the left.

In United’s Europa League victory over PAOK, Mazraoui returned to right-back, where he could effectively connect with Amad. Early in the season, the duo showed potential on the right side, with Amad’s season-opening goal against Brighton assisted by Mazraoui. However, their partnership has since seen limited time, as Amad has had sparse play, and Mazraoui was often out of position.

Against PAOK, Amad scored twice, thriving on the right wing with Mazraoui’s reliable support. Previously named United’s man of the match against Chelsea for his left-back performance, Mazraoui delivered another stellar showing on his favored side, completing 93% of his passes, winning two tackles, making a block, and winning six duels.

As United prepares to face Leicester City, both Amad and Mazraoui have strengthened their cases to continue as a right-sided pair.
