‘His time is up unless the club’s board don’t know what they are doing. Nine games and in [United] are 14th in the table….come on, this is Man United. He has done enough harm to the club’ – This is according to Sky Sports analyst Jamie O’Hara as he urges Manchester United to promptly dismiss Erik ten Hag with a successor already suggested.
Sky Sports analyst Jamie O'Hara believes that Erik ten Hag's tenure at Manchester United should come to an end and has expressed doubts about why the club decided to grant the Dutch manager a contract extension during the summer.
Sky Sports analyst Jamie O’Hara believes that Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester United should come to an end and has expressed doubts about why the club decided to grant the Dutch manager a contract extension during the summer.
Jamie O’Hara has urged Manchester United to relieve Erik ten Hag of his duties following the team’s latest disappointing loss.
Ten Hag’s tenure has been marred by a poor start to the season, and the pressure is mounting after a 2-1 defeat against West Ham.
Although the club considered other managerial options during the recent international break, they opted against making a change. However, O’Hara now believes it’s time for the Dutchman to go.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Tottenham player criticized the team’s form, pointing out, “Nine games in and [United] are 14th in the table…this is Man United.” He suggested that a mid-table position could be understandable, but losing four out of nine games is unacceptable.
O’Hara stated that he would have dismissed Ten Hag three months ago and questioned the decision to extend his contract after the FA Cup. He added that, despite some decent performances, United have been subpar, even in the Europa League.
Furthermore, O’Hara suggested that Ten Hag’s assistant, Ruud van Nistelrooy, should be considered for the role, noting that the former striker could step up if given the chance.
He mentioned that club officials have also reportedly spoken with ex-Barcelona coach Xavi. “I’d give it to Van Nistelrooy,” O’Hara said, arguing that the Dutchman’s time is up and that United need a new direction.
