Mudryk’s time at Chelsea, following a £62m transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk, has been underwhelming. The deal, which could rise to £89m with add-ons, seems unlikely to reach those figures based on his current form.

“He’s far down the pecking order for me. I just don’t see much in him as a player. He has football intelligence, but although he’s incredibly fast, it often seems like his feet are quicker than his brain—he struggles to adjust. He has so much potential, but he’s been really disappointing.”

Maresca addressed Mudryk’s challenges earlier in the season, acknowledging that his decision-making needed improvement.

When asked if Mudryk needed to be more consistent to succeed at Chelsea, Maresca responded, “This is who Misha is, this is Mudryk since he joined the club. He’s had good moments, but other times it’s like flipping a coin—you don’t know what you’re going to get.”

“This is Misha. If he can become more consistent, he can take a step forward, and we’ll work to help him improve.

He needs to understand that we will give him the ball in the final third, and from there it’s about making the right decisions.

For me, most of Misha’s mistakes are not due to lack of quality or technical errors, but poor choices.

Sometimes he should pass but tries something else, and we lose possession. Other times he should take on a defender one-on-one. It’s all about decision-making, and hopefully we can help him improve that.”

If Chelsea decides to loan out Mudryk or sell the Ukrainian international, they will likely incur a significant loss, which another former Blues player believes is the most reasonable outcome.

When asked if Mudryk has the potential to succeed at Stamford Bridge, Glen Johnson told Betfred: “We haven’t seen it yet.

There have been glimpses of his talent, and at times he has looked unstoppable, but those moments have been infrequent.

Right now, it seems he may not be suited for the Premier League, as we would have noticed it by now if he were. Perhaps his time at Chelsea is coming to an end.”
