Romeo Lavia’s difficult spell at Chelsea may be about to worsen, as club officials appear to be losing patience with the 20-year-old.

Despite being on the verge of joining Liverpool, the Belgian midfielder was signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for £58 million.

Lavia was considered a future Premier League star after standing out during Southampton’s relegation season. However, injuries to his ankle and thigh have limited him to just four appearances for Chelsea in his debut season.

Romeo Lavia made his first start for Chelsea in August during their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, but his injury troubles resurfaced with a hamstring issue.

Now, reports suggest Todd Boehly is ready to make new signings rather than wait for Lavia, who has just one international cap, to regain full fitness.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Chelsea scouts are already eyeing Hellas Verona midfielder Reda Belhayne.

The 20-year-old, who joined from Nice in January, has impressed in Serie A this season and is already considered indispensable in manager Paolo Zanetti’s starting XI after his strong performance in a 2-0 win over Venezia.

Former France under-18 international Reda Belhayne is under contract with Hellas Verona until 2028, but that is unlikely to discourage Chelsea from making a bid in January. The Blues have already been given a boost, as Belhayne has openly expressed admiration for a Chelsea legend.

He stated, “The number six represents solid midfielders who win the ball back from opponents but also know how to retain possession. It reflects my style of play.”

Belhayne further added, “My role model is N’Golo Kante. I admire his team spirit. Even off the pitch, he’s calm, but on it, he has been my example since childhood.”

Moises Caicedo currently plays as the holding midfielder for Chelsea, demonstrating the club’s justification for paying £115 million to sign him from Brighton.
