Live from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba openly criticized a Chelsea player, labeling him a liability and urging for his suspension from the starting XI. Drogba stated, “Chelsea might be in a better position than last season, and we, the fans, are happy—but let me be clear: Chelsea will NEVER win a major trophy with him still in the squad! Cundy, speaking to talkSPORT and reported by The Metro, said: “I think Robert Sanchez will likely be replaced at some point. He’s a good shot-stopper and occasionally makes brilliant saves, but overall I don’t believe Chelsea can win a major trophy with him in goal. That’s a concern.”

 

Despite this, Maresca has backed Sanchez, stressing that mistakes are part of his playing philosophy. The manager encourages his players to be bold and build play from the back, a strategy that naturally carries risks, particularly for the goalkeeper. Maresca’s faith in his players shows his confidence in their ability to adapt to his tactical system.
