Reports indicate that Premier League giants Liverpool are prepared to offer £102 million for a reliable replacement for Mohamed Salah, who has reportedly been contacted by PSG.

Salah was strongly linked with a move away from Liverpool during last summer’s transfer window, with Al-Ittihad from the Saudi Pro League making a failed £150 million bid for the Egyptian international.

There were expectations that the Middle Eastern club might make another attempt to sign Salah in the summer or January, but no offers materialized for the 31-year-old, who remains under contract with Liverpool until 2025.

Liverpool has benefited from Salah’s excellent form during the first half of this season, setting themselves up as contenders for four trophies.

However, Salah’s performance dipped after recovering from a hamstring injury, and he notably clashed with Jurgen Klopp on the touchline after not starting against West Ham on April 27.

This incident fueled speculation about Salah’s potential departure from Liverpool, and it was reported earlier this month that the club was preparing for critical discussions with the attacker regarding his future.

Salah to ‘pack his bags’
According to reports from Spain, Salah has been contacted by PSG and several Saudi Pro League clubs ahead of the summer, with indications that he might be preparing to leave.

As a result, Liverpool is searching the market for a reliable replacement, with Real Madrid star Rodrygo emerging as a potential candidate.

The 23-year-old Rodrygo was linked with Liverpool before he joined Real Madrid in 2019 and has made over 200 appearances for the Spanish giants in the past five seasons.

Rodrygo has particularly impressed in the Champions League, scoring 17 goals in 49 appearances this season. However, the possible summer arrival of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid could lead to Rodrygo seeking a move elsewhere.

According to the Spanish report, Rodrygo has become Liverpool’s priority target to replace Salah, and Real Madrid does not consider him ‘untouchable’.

“Liverpool have a very high budget and are willing to pay 120 million euros (£102m) for Rodrygo, a very significant offer. Madrid could gain considerable income from a player who has not yet fully met their expectations and could sign another star to replace him.

“So it cannot be ruled out that Florentino Pérez ends up opening the doors.”
