Sir Alex Ferguson advocates for Dougie Freedman, the 49-year-old sporting director of Crystal Palace, to be appointed by Manchester United.

According to a report by Football Insider, Freedman is highly esteemed by Ferguson, who envisions him as the ideal candidate for the role of head of recruitment at Man United.

Ferguson believes that under the leadership of new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Freedman could bring significant positive changes to the team.

With INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe taking over full control of Man United’s sporting decisions, significant changes are anticipated within the club.

Omar Berrada, the former CEO of Manchester City, has been appointed as the new CEO, and the club is close to finalizing the appointment of Dan Ashworth as their new Sporting Director.

Ashworth, who is currently on gardening leave from Newcastle United, will assume full responsibility for transfer decisions at Old Trafford once the compensation agreement between the two clubs is reached.

Sir Alex Ferguson sees Freedman and Ashworth as a formidable team that could potentially revive Man United’s glory days.

He envisions Freedman serving as head of recruitment under Ashworth’s leadership. Freedman has excelled in his role as sporting director at Crystal Palace since taking over in the summer of 2017.

He has been instrumental in bringing in successful signings such as Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, and Michael Olise, all of whom have shown immense potential and could command significant transfer fees if ever sold.

Ferguson believes that Freedman’s expertise in identifying and acquiring talent could greatly benefit Man United under Ashworth’s direction.
