Confirmed reports indicate that there is a strong possibility of Jadon Sancho rejoining Manchester United, although it depends on a specific condition.

Sancho, recognized for his excellence as one of Europe’s premier wingers during his initial stint at Dortmund from 2017 to 2021, recently returned to the German club from Manchester United on a temporary basis.

This decision followed a fallout with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, preventing him from featuring for the Premier League side.

Upon rejoining Dortmund, Sancho expressed a sense of being back “home,” indicating a strong connection and comfort with the club. However, the possibility of Sancho staying at Dortmund beyond the current loan spell is uncertain.

Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, admitted that the club might lack the financial means to secure a permanent deal for Sancho in the upcoming summer transfer window.

A similar financial challenge exists for another loanee, Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen, who is also at Dortmund.

Kehl acknowledged the financial constraints faced by the club, stating that exercising purchase options for both Sancho and Maatsen may be unrealistic.

Reflecting on Dortmund’s unsuccessful attempts to negotiate permanent options for the loaned players, Kehl highlighted the difficulties posed by the clubs’ respective negotiating positions.

Despite Dortmund’s desire for a permanent deal, the club was unable to secure favorable terms in the negotiations.

Manchester United’s decision not to include a purchase option in Sancho’s loan agreement further complicates Dortmund’s chances of keeping the winger beyond the loan period.

While there is a possibility of Sancho’s market value increasing if he regains his peak form at Dortmund, the absence of a purchase option limits the club’s bargaining power in potential future negotiations.

This approach mirrors Manchester United’s past loan agreements, such as Alexis Sanchez’s loan to Inter Milan in 2019.

Despite the potential for Sancho’s value to rise, Dortmund’s ability to retain him depends on their financial capability and negotiating strength in future transfer dealings.
