Ajax is reportedly interested in rehiring Erik ten Hag if he ends up being sacked as the manager of Manchester United.

Despite guiding United to a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round, Ten Hag remains under significant pressure.

The recent 2-1 defeat to Fulham marked United’s 10th loss in the Premier League this season, amplifying scrutiny on Ten Hag.

The team’s performances have been lackluster, even in victories, leaving much to be desired.

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a 27.7% stake in Manchester United, he hasn’t publicly expressed full support for Erik ten Hag.

What’s more concerning for Ten Hag is that the club is consistently linked with potential successors.

Names like Julian Nagelsmann, Roberto De Zerbi, Zinedine Zidane, and Graham Potter have all been mentioned as potential replacements for the United manager.

According to reports from The Independent via The Express, Ten Hag might have another option lined up if his time at Old Trafford ends prematurely.

The publication suggests that Ten Hag is still admired by Ajax, and they would welcome him back if the opportunity arose.

The 54-year-old had a successful five-year stint with Ajax, winning three Eredivisie titles and two KNVP Cups.

He also guided them to the Champions League semi-final in 2019.

Since Ten Hag’s departure, Ajax has faced challenges, currently sitting fifth in the league standings and significantly behind table leaders PSV Eindhoven.
