“He’s an amazing player but his attitude towards the game and teammates is terrible. He just can’t continue here. It’s frustrating but it has to be done or it’ll affect the whole team” – Arsenal have conceded defeat with a player who has failed to fit in, and he is now set to be offloaded, leaving the manager frustrated.

Arsenal winger Marquinhos hasn’t managed to leave a significant mark during his two loan stints away from the Emirates, indicating that the Gunners are prepared to accept their losses on the Brazilian player.

Arsenal’s technical director Edu is facing embarrassment as the club appears to be preparing to offload Brazilian winger Marquinhos following a disappointing loan spell at Nantes.

Despite being signed for £3 million from Sao Paulo in 2022, Marquinhos has struggled to make a notable impact.

This shift in Arsenal’s stance on Marquinhos is noteworthy, particularly considering their previous strong interest in the young player, which reportedly left former Sao Paulo head coach Rogerio Ceni ‘very angry’, as per a report from Bolavip (via the Mirror).

Marquinhos is now expected to join Brazilian side Fluminense on loan before the Brazilian transfer window closes. The deal is believed to include an option for a permanent transfer if all parties agree.

Edu, who previously served as the technical director of the Brazil national team, has played a significant role in Arsenal’s resurgence under manager Arteta and has been involved in the club’s transfer activities.

However, the acquisition of Marquinhos has not yielded the expected results.

Arsenal had initially harbored hopes that Marquinhos would follow a trajectory similar to Gabriel Martinelli, another Brazilian talent discovered in Brazilian football as a teenager.

Martinelli has since become a key player for Arsenal and one of the Premier League’s top forwards.

Regarding the transfer deal in June 2022, Edu expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We are pleased to have finalized the transfer with Sao Paulo, as Marquinhos was a player we had been monitoring for some time.”

“At the age of 19, he remains very young, making him a player with potential for the future. We anticipate Marquinhos joining us for pre-season, settling into his new surroundings, and continuing his growth and development with our club.”

Yet, his performance at Arsenal has not met expectations since he arrived at the Emirates. Overall, he has featured in only six matches for the club across all competitions, with just one of those appearances occurring in the Premier League.

Additionally, he had a loan spell at Norwich City, where he participated in 11 Championship matches, and later moved to Nantes.

Now, it appears he is poised to join Fluminense, bringing an end to his underwhelming stint in north London.
