Thiago Silva, the Chelsea defender, is reportedly unlikely to extend his stay at the club beyond this season as his contract nears its conclusion.
Additionally, there appears to be evident tension between Silva and Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Silva, who has been a significant figure for Chelsea since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain, is approaching 40 years old next season, suggesting that it might be an appropriate time for him to bid farewell to Stamford Bridge.
According to The Athletic, there are signs of discord between Silva and Pochettino, highlighted by instances where the experienced Brazilian defender seemed to disregard his manager.
The report cites an animated exchange between Silva and Pochettino on the touchline during Chelsea’s victory against Tottenham earlier in the season, as well as Silva’s apparent snub of Pochettino during the recent defeat to Wolves.
Pochettino reportedly attempted multiple times to attract Silva’s attention during the match, but the 39-year-old either ignored him or did not hear him.
Eventually, Pochettino redirected his attention to Enzo Fernandez instead.
Adding to the speculation, Silva’s wife posted on social media about the need for change, indicating a desire for Pochettino’s departure from the club.
