Joshua Kimmich has already suggested his favored choice amidst speculation connecting him to Manchester City and Liverpool.

The German standout has been a standout performer for Bayern Munich since his introduction to the first team at the age of 20 in 2015, following his transfer from RB Leipzig.

Over this period, Kimmich has amassed 370 appearances in various competitions for the German giants, contributing with 41 goals and 100 assists.

His trophy haul includes eight Bundesliga titles, three German cups, and one Champions League victory.

Despite being a consistent presence in Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup, the 28-year-old has been associated with a potential departure from the Allianz Arena.

Kimmich has reportedly faced challenges in establishing a strong connection with Tuchel since the manager took over from Julian Nagelsmann last March.

With his contract running until 2025, both Manchester City and Liverpool are reportedly competing to convince the midfielder to make a move to the Premier League.

Should Kimmich opt to leave Bayern, City may have an advantageous position in securing his signature.

When Pep Guardiola was linked with a return to Bayern Munich at the conclusion of the 2019/20 season, Kimmich openly expressed his desire to work with the Spanish manager again.

“I am familiar with [Guardiola] and owe him a lot. He brought me from the second division and gave me the opportunity to play in the Bundesliga,” Kimmich expressed.

“We achieved a double together, and following that season, I earned a spot in the German national team. So, naturally, I wouldn’t be opposed to him making a return.”

It’s unsurprising that Kimmich has a desire to collaborate with Guardiola once again.

The Spaniard was the one who recognized Kimmich’s potential as an inverted full-back, and since then, Kimmich has evolved into one of the premier full-backs and midfielders globally.

Given the speculation that Guardiola might extend his tenure at City beyond the conclusion of his existing contract in 2025, Kimmich might need to consider a move to the treble winners if he aims to reunite with his preferred coach.
