Casemiro is poised to leave Manchester United in January, acknowledging that his future is not aligned with Old Trafford, as reported by 90min.

The 31-year-old, who arrived with much anticipation in August 2022 for a fee of up to £60 million from Real Madrid, initially made a strong impression with impactful performances, orchestrating United’s midfield and scoring crucial goals. However, a series of incidents leading to suspensions and a dip in form this season have adversely affected his standing, coinciding with United’s struggles in various competitions.

Currently sidelined due to injury since October, missing 13 games, Casemiro has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, with discussions about a potential transfer gaining momentum. United, considering the opportunity to recoup their significant investment, may approve a move in January if a suitable offer is presented.

Reports suggest that Casemiro is open to leaving United, with significant interest from the Saudi Pro League. Financial Fair Play concerns could potentially limit Paris Saint-Germain’s ability to compete in the bidding process.

If Casemiro departs, United would relieve themselves of the financial burden of their highest earner’s wages and possibly create space on the wage bill, taking into account other high-profile players like Sancho, Van de Beek, Varane, and Martial.

The final decision on Casemiro’s departure is pending, contingent on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS-led investment and the planned restructuring of the club’s football department.

This comprehensive overhaul aims to address issues with United’s transfer strategy and may impact Erik ten Hag’s future as the manager. However, any significant managerial decision is likely to be postponed until Ratcliffe’s new setup takes shape, ushering in a potentially transformative phase for Manchester United.
