In recent months, there has been speculation regarding the involvement of Qatar Sports Investments in Al Thani’s bid to acquire ownership of Manchester United. However, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, has addressed these rumors, refuting a significant role and clarifying that he acted merely as an adviser.

Al-Khelaifi, as quoted by Canal Supporters, expressed amusement at the reports, stating, “To be honest, you make me laugh.” He explained that, being a Qatari citizen, he frequently receives inquiries from various European associations about investments and related matters. Al-Khelaifi emphasized that he would willingly provide his opinion if asked, not exclusively for Manchester United but for any entity seeking advice. He underscored his deep commitment to PSG, emphasizing that it is the only club he is dedicated to.

In his role as the president of the European Club Association (ECA), Al-Khelaifi shared a broader perspective, expressing his desire for improvements to tournaments and clubs. He highlighted his goal of achieving the best possible outcomes for France in all European leagues and competitions.

Qatar Sports Investments has strategically acquired minority stakes in various clubs to enhance its influence. Despite QSI becoming the majority owner of Paris Saint-Germain in 2011, the club’s ownership was not fully taken over.

In the competition for ownership of Manchester United, Al Thani faces a challenge from British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe. The outcome of this ownership contest at Old Trafford will be intriguing to observe as both contenders vie for control.

This development adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing discussions surrounding the potential change in ownership at Manchester United, shedding light on the role of Qatar Sports Investments and the interests of various stakeholders in European football.
