Erik ten Hag is currently facing immense pressure at Manchester United.

Despite his efforts to bring discipline to the team, recent results have not been in his favor.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s partial takeover expected soon, the upcoming three home games against Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Bayern Munich, followed by a crucial match against Liverpool on December 17, could determine the fate of ten Hag’s era at the club.

Ten Hag surely aims to avoid a recurrence of the 7-0 defeat from United’s previous visit to Anfield.

However, there are ominous signs as the club seems to have identified a potential replacement, indicating that regardless of the manager’s performance in the upcoming games, his time at the helm could be limited.

Reportedly, Julen Lopetegui, the former Wolves manager who faced controversy when he was dismissed as the Spanish national team manager due to his connection with Real Madrid, is being considered for the role.

Despite declining a lucrative offer of €18 million per season to manage in Saudi Arabia, Lopetegui, as a free agent, could readily step into the position as needed.
